Kalonzo tells Ruto to resign over corruption claims by Muturi

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has asked President William Ruto to resign following former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi’s claim that he is “unfit to be president”.

Speaking at Redeemed Gospel Church in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County, Kalonzo said the words of the former Attorney General were weighty since Muturi was once in the President’s inner circle.

“A former attorney General put it clearly that the foundation of the country is shaking because of corruption,” Kalonzo said, adding that the Kenya’s economy had been put in a perilous state.

He also defended Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti over her government’s investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), with recent summoning of two officials, Finance CECM Onesmus Kuyu and Energy Chief Officer Abdi Guliye.

Kuyu, Wavinya’s right hand man, is on EACC’s radar with detectives having taken documents from his offices and home after a raid.

Although EACC hasn’t issued a statement on what led to the raid, sources hinted to The Standard that Guliye is being investigated for alleged illicit deals committed while he was serving in the Water department.

“I am aware that governors Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Julius Malombe and Wavinya Ndeti are being targeted by Ruto administration because they are Wiper governors.

“They started in Machakos to ensure they silence her. Mutula is next. Before undermining these three governors, respond to Muturi’s claims that you are irredeemably corrupt,” Kalonzo told the President.

Kalonzo termed Ruto the reigning champion of corruption.

“This is the time to resign. Before sending men to come and arrest Junior (Mutula Kilonzo Jnr) and Wavinya arrest yourself,” he said.

Kalonzo also took issue with the appearance of top security officers, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja in the President’s political rallies.

“We are telling our men and women in uniform to stick to their lane. You can’t have the IG of police campaigning for you. It doesn’t happen anywhere,” he said.
