Wajir County’s Dela Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Yussuf Ahmed Tolfiyow Hussein has been found alive and reunited with his family.
The MCA who was reportedly abducted in September 2024, was escorted by unknown people to his family in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Wajir County Governor, who also doubles up as the Council of Governors Chairperson, Ahmed Abdullahi confirmed to The Standard that the MCA was safe and sound and that he has been taken to hospital for checks.
“He is wellAlhamdhulilah. He was reunited with his family on Saturday and this brings to an end the anxiety we had as a county and the country at large,” he said.
Ahmed was reported missing on September 13, 2024, along Enterprise Road in Nairobi’s Industrial Area.
A month later, a body was retrieved in Lake Yahud (outskirts of Wajir town) which was believed to be the missing MCA.
However, a DNA test later determined that the body was not for the MCA.
It remains unclear who the abductors were and their motive. Ahmed is yet to reveal his ordeal to the press.
