A family is in mourning after their 53-year-old relative was found dead in a well on his property in Kirinyaga County after he was declared missing.

When did Kirinyaga man disappear?

The man, identified as David Mwangi, had gone missing on Monday, September 30, before he was found in the well.

According to a report by Citizen Digital, the deceased’s family expressed their sorrow, saying they were in distress while searching for him, only to discover he had died.

They stated that the search began immediately after Mwangi’s wife raised the alarm, saying she could not locate her husband.

How was Mwangi’s body found?

Mwangi’s body was reportedly found by a resident who had gone to the well to fetch water in the morning.

“The person who saw David Mwangi’s body immediately called his wife, who began crying and raised the alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours,” one of the neighbours said.

The acting area chief confirmed the incident, stating that she was informed of what happened by the village elder.

Mwangi’s body was retrieved from the well and taken to Kibugi Funeral Home for a postmortem evaluation.
