Former Kenya Volleyball Federation Women’s National League champions Kenya Pipeline maintained their place at the peak of the table as the third leg of the 2024-2025 season ended at Nyayo Volleyball Court.

This is despite their Sunday’s clash against the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) being rained off. The encounter will now be played during the last leg of the season. Pipeline, who are looking to reclaim the title they last won in 2022, top the table with 16 points.

The Oilers have had a good run and remain unbeaten with their only flaw being dropping two points in their 3-2 victories against defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and perennial rivals Kenya Prisons.

Pipeline beat Kenya Army 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-18) on Saturday to extend their winning streak to six matches, but their quest for a seventh victory was halted by rain as they led by a set.

Kenya Prisons, who are also eying this season’s gong, are second with 15 points from five wins and a loss.

The former titleholders added misery to their Prisons Nairobi compatriots on Sunday subjecting them to their fourth loss of the season.

Winless Nairobi Prisons, who are stuck at the bottom of the table, had lost to holders KCB 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-14) on Saturday. DCI, who had one match at the weekend, dropped one place down to third. The investigators remain unbeaten alongside Pipeline with 12 points from four outings.

Champions KCB are fourth with 11 points from five matches following their fruitful weekend out that saw them bag maximum points against Prisons Nairobi and Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Kenya Army, who had their unbeaten run dented, dropped to fifth place after failing to secure points against Pipeline and Postbank. They have nine points from three wins and two losses and remain top contenders for playoffs slots. Postbank were top gainers in the third leg after securing double victories over KDF and Kenya Army to move five places up to sixth.

They have eight points from six matches. Being in the top eight enhances their chances of sealing a playoffs slot. Vihiga, who were not in action and KDF, complete the top eight list.

Postbank coach Vernon Kainga said his objective is to finish in the top four.
