Kakamega – Grief and sorrow have engulfed Epanga village in Mumias East Constituency following the untimely death of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate.
Citizen Digital reported that Calistus Wamboye Oteu, a student at Eburere Secondary School, died in school on Tuesday, November 5.
The 19-year-old KCSE candidate died in the classroom as he awaited to sit for his exams.

According to his family, led by parents Patrick and Dorcas Oteu, Calistus and his sibling, who is also sitting for the same national examination, left home in good health
However, the family was soon devastated by the tragic news of Calistus’s unexpected death.

According to the family, Calistus showed no signs of sickness prior to the tragic incident that left them devasted.
The Oteu family, who held high hopes for their son’s future, has sought support from the government and well-wishers.
His body has been transferred to St. Mary’s Mission Hospital morgue in Mumias, awaiting postmortem to establish the cause of death.
